Subject: OPMP Exterior Mosquito Barrier and Landscape Upgrades
Two very significant improvement projects have commenced at Oyster Point Marina Plaza this month. The first project involves the excavation of the perimeter of each building and the installation of a constructed barrier to help lessen mosquito and animal intrusion underneath the buildings. This is as the direct instruction of the County of San Mateo.
The completion of this barrier marks the beginning of the first phase of a 2 to 3 year landscape upgrade project for the entire property. It is our intention to upgrade and retrofit the majority of the property's landscape with plant materials that do not require large amounts of water or maintenance in an effort to lower operating costs. Also, we will be upgrading our irrigation controllers to be tied into a weather satellite that will monitor the moisture content in the air and local forecasts, automatically adjusting watering schedules to fit our needs. These controller will better regulate the consumption of water throughout the property.
The purpose of this project is that within the next few years, Oyster Point Marina Plaza's water consumption for landscaping will be reduced by more than 50%. The the anticipated rationing of water in San Mateo County over the next few years, it is our goal to remain below the average in water consumption and thus not have to pay higher usage costs in the future.
Please be patient as these projects continue over the next few months. The final results will truly make Oyster Point Marina Plaza a destination office complex here in South San Francisco.
